Central Coast Teams Competition 2004

Congratulations to Mingara chess club for winning (with their 'A' team) the Central Coast teams competition for the second year running ! This year the Mingara lads & lasses only managed 1st and 3rd as opposed to last year's 1st and 2nd, mainly due to the Toukley White Knight's strong showing. This year the with the additional rating points added on to everyone's rating, the rating cap for each team was lifted by 100 points to 6400(1600x4)

The winning score was half a point higher than last year (not bad when we consider there was one round less).

Needing two and a half points in the final round to snare equal 1st Mingara made certain only allowing one half point.

All in all there were 40 players involved - with Ettalong perhaps paying the penalty of having a massive eleven (coincidentally they scored 11 last year).

It's good to see Mal getting back in form with 4.5 from 5 and Hani after first triumph at the Wyong Shire Cup ( 4 from 5 ).

A little explanation is that a few play for more than one club - thus I scored three and a half from six games - not bad considering there was only five rounds !
