Mingara Chess Club Presentation Night 2002

A good time was had by all at the Mingara CC 2002 presentation night.
The star Restaurant was an excellent venue for the night.
Scott McClelland took his share of the prizes with 2 firsts and a third
Barry Maddy also with 2 firsts and a third
Sidonia Klemmens had 3first places
Brett Doering had 3firsts 2seconds and 2 thirds
Rosalinda Pritchard had a first, second and third in club competitions plus a
first in the Combined Districts Lightning and the Wyong Shire Cup
Ern Svendsen had 2 firsts including the Wyong Shire Cup
Don Skulimovski took 1st in division 1 of the Allegro championship
Stephen Lofts won the Time Handicap Tournament.
Tony Eves had a second and a third in the open division
Joe Keaveney took a second in the Combined Districts Lightning and a 3rd in the
open division
Ivan Kodzoman a second and 3 thirds in the open division
Mal Murrell had 2 firsts,3 seconds and 2 thirds in the open division. Mal also
tied for first place in the NSW Country Championship
Clint Daniel won the Mingara Lightning Championship
Mike Van Renen won the Mingara Rapid play Championship, third in the Combined
Districts Lightning and second in the Mingara May Major.
John Nutter had 4 firsts and 4 seconds including first place in the Club
Championship and second in the Wyong Shire Cup. John also tied for first place
in the NSW Country Championship.

Mal Murrell gives himself an uppercut for declining a draw offer in the last
round of the N.S.W. 2000 Rapidplay championships which would have given him
equal second place. The tournament was won by former Australian Champion Fred
Flatow F.M. with 6/6
